13. Transcripts:  I went to high school (and college if applicable) outside of the USA.  What should I do?

a.   Admission to the program requires each student have their own laptop.  The laptop should be fully charged (bring your charger just in case!) and ready for use on the first day of class.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR LAPTOP

- Microsoft Windows based computers (i.e.:  purchased with in the last 2 years)

- Program (ExamSoft) does not support Chromebook, tablets or any virtual operating system

- Operating System:  30-bit and 64-bit Versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8, or 10

- Only genuine, U.S.-English, French, Portuguese, Swedish and British versions of Windows Operating System are supported.

- CPU Processor:  1.86Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo or greater

- RAM:  highest recommended for the operating system or 2GB

- Hard Drive:  highest recommended for the operating system or 1GB of available space

- A working USB port is required (newer devices may require an adaptor)

- Adobe Reader (Version 9, 11, or DC) is required for exams containing PDF attachments

- Internet connection available for downloads, exam download and upload

- Screen Resolution must be 1024 x 768 or higher

11.  When are the Health History forms due?

 a.  There are no prerequisites.  If you have successfully completed any college courses or certificate program, have that school send us your transcripts.  Courses are not required but do add credit to your admission score.

 a.  The Health History forms are due on the first day of school, to include all immunizations.  The TB 2 Step must be complete within 6 months of the start of school.

a.   The program runs from August through June and is full time days from 7:50 a.m. - 2:15 p.m., following the high school calendar.  Occasionally an evening or weekend is necessary for clinical practice.

a.  No credits may be transferred to the LPN program.

a.   Yes, financial aid is available.  You should apply after you have received your acceptance into the program letter.

 a.  You must have your CPR certification (including AED) by the first day of school.

 a.  If you went to high school (and college) outside of the USA, please contact CED (1-617-338-7171) to have your transcripts evaluated (NOT translated) by CED.  CED will forward the results directly to Assabet.

11.  When are the Health History forms due?

a.   The In-District towns are Berlin, Hudson, Marlboro, Maynard, Northboro, Southboro and Westboro only.

 a.  It is not mandatory that you attend an Information Session but it is recommended.

a.   Take and pass the TEAS test with ATI.  If you have not taken the test at Assabet Valley Regional Technical School but took it elsewhere please let us know where and when.

b.  Download, print, and complete the Application.  Compile all required documentation.  (As it may take time for Assabet to receive original transcripts, references, CED documents, etc., starting the request process sooner rather than later would be in your best interest.)  All documents should be mailed to the Practical Nurse Program, Assabet Valley Regional Technical School, 215 Fitchburg Street, Marlborough, MA, 01752.

c.  Once you have passed the TEAS test and all necessary documentation is received, you will be contacted to schedule an interview.  (It is the applicants responsibility to confirm receipt of all documents.)

d.  The PN Admission Committee meets monthly to determine  acceptance into the program.  A letter will be sent to each applicants home.

e.  After accepted into the program, download, print and complete the Health History Form with your doctor.
